Google vs Naver
Search Seoul clinics in English and you are not seeing Seoul; you are seeing the slice of Seoul that spent money to be visible to you. Local clinic discovery happens somewhere else — on Naver and Kakao maps, in Korean communities, and above all through introductions. Neither index is lying. They are answering different questions, and it pays to know which one you asked.
| What you're reading | English Google | Local discovery |
|---|---|---|
| Who appears | Clinics investing in visitor marketing | Clinics locals already use, marketed or not |
| Reviews measure | Visitor experience: language, service | Regulars' experience, read with local salt |
| Prices shown | Packages and consultation quotes | Itemized session prices on local menus |
| The deepest layer | Not reachable from here | Introductions: which doctor, for which thing |
Methodology: this table describes what each channel is structurally built to surface, not the quality of any clinic found through either. No figures are cited and none should be read into it. Last updated: 30 July 2026.
Ranking in English search results correlates with spending on being found in English. That is what search results are. It says nothing bad about any clinic — building a visitor business is legitimate — but it means "top result" and "where locals go" are answers to two different questions, and the second one cannot be extracted from the first no matter how many pages deep you read.
Reading Korean platforms gets you closer: real menus, real review trails, real scheduling friction. But Korean review culture has its own advertising layer, and locals themselves treat it as a starting point, not an answer. The layer they actually act on is the introduction (소개) — which never appears in any index, in any language. What to check with your own eyes instead: the four signals.
Use English search for what it is good at: logistics, locations, whether a clinic exists. Stop using it for the question it cannot answer. For that question the honest options are learning to read the local layer yourself, or borrowing someone who already lives in it — which is the thing we arrange.
This page describes discovery channels, not clinics. No clinic, platform ranking, or review is being rated, and no market figure is claimed. Last checked: 30 July 2026.
